HP Photosmart 5520 Printers - Wireless Printer Setup (Mac)

This document is for HP Photosmart 5520, 5521, 5522, 5524, & 5525 e-All-in-One Printers & Mac computers.
To set up an HP printer on a wireless (Wi-Fi) network, connect the printer to the wireless network, & then install the print driver & software from the HP website on a Mac computer. When prompted during the installation, select Wireless as the connection type.

#Step One: Prepare for installation

Before setting up the printer on your wireless network, gather the network name & password, & turn on your router, printer, & Mac.

• Gather the following items:

1. Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
2. Network password: The password might also be called the WEP key or WPA security passphrase.
3. A computer connected to your wireless network
4. Internet access: HP recommends broadb& Internet access such as cable or DSL for software downloads, using Web Services, & getting printer updates.

• Make sure the router & computer are turned on, & that the computer is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer. Turn on the printer & place it close to the computer & within range of the router during the setup procedure.
• Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables from the printer.

#Step Two: Connect the printer to the wireless network

The Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up & manage the printer wireless connection to your Mac.

• Turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on.
• On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .

The Wireless Summary screen displays.

• Touch Settings, & then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
• Follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

#Step Three: Download & install the driver

Download & install the most current version of your printer full feature software from 123.hp.com.

• Go to 123.hp.com.
• Type your printer model into the Enter your device's model number to begin box.
• Select your printer from the dropdown menu, & then click Begin.
• Click Download.
• When the download is complete, click the file named xxxx.dmg in the browser downloads bar or in the downloads folder to launch the installer.

• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
• When prompted, close the installation software.

The HP Utility software opens.

• In the HP Utility Setup window, select the name of your printer, & then click Continue.
• Click Add Printer.

The Add window displays.

• Click the name of your printer.

Make sure you select the printer that has Bonjour listed under Kind.

• Click the Use or Print Using menu, & then select the name of your printer in the drop-down menu.

• Click Add to add the printer to the list.
• In the installer Add Printer window, click Continue.

• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer setup, & then click Done.
